It is very easy to get lost and be enamored by Lithuanian painter Vilmantas Marcinkevičius energetic symphony of colors – as if alive, constantly contrasting, sometimes strong and sometimes surprisingly gentle colors make the viewer flustered in the boundless diversity of brush strokes. Bright blue, yellow and orange links into energetic polyphony that gives unique vitality to the images. „I let myself create spontaneously. Artworks for me are honest actions that require the preparation and reflection before the process begins. Each of the paintings has a main theme, although they are naturally filled with additional meanings“, says artist.

His distinctive paintings are characterized by spontaneous and wild brush strokes. Abstract shapes and motifs makes us wander around the world full of illusions and allusion, however the artist ensures that everyone will find their own narrative path. Plastic lines, simplified and primitive forms usually deceive our look and just more attentive viewer can reveal topics about love, friendship and feelings which are hidden under the colors.

Marcinkevičius is an active participator in various art projects in Lithuania and abroad and has held 30 personal exhibitions in Lithuania, Denmark, France, Sweden and Faroe Islands. His works were exhibited in Copenhagen, Cologne and Gent art fairs. He does believe that artworks shall move from galleries and exhibition halls into urbanistic environment, bringing art closer to people.
